Leaning Posts for Center Console Boats
A leaning post does more than give you somewhere to sit. It changes how you run the boat — standing comfortably at speed, leaning back in rough water, or swinging the backrest around when the fish are on. Stryker builds two models from 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, finished in anodized or powder-coated white or black. Both are universal fit and install without special tools.
We always use the best 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum (not the weaker 6063 alloy used by competitors). All are mandrel bent, CNC'd, welded and constructed by our talented team. There are optional finishes available to match your t-top or boat: clear anodized finish, powder coated white and powder coated black. The marine-grade vinyl seating material and padding is great looking, long lasting and comfortable.
Unlike many other brands, we include a limited 5 year manufacturer warranty against defects. Plus, we have a fully staffed, full time sales and support team if you need help before your purchase, during the installation or for the life of original ownership.

LP100 Leaning Post
The LP100 is the straightforward option — solid aluminum frame, marine-grade UV-resistant upholstery over premium foam, and an adjustable backrest you set once and lock down. There's room underneath for a cooler if you need it. Good value, no fuss.
LP200 Swing Back Leaning Post
The LP200 adds a pivoting backrest that flips toward the helm, opening the rear of the seat toward the stern. When the action's behind you, that matters. Same frame and upholstery as the LP100, just more versatile on the water.
What is a leaning post?
A leaning post is helm seating found on center console boats, positioned just behind the helm. It lets the operator stand comfortably while leaning back for support — useful at speed, in chop, or during long days on the water. Most feature a padded bench seat and backrest with room for two.
What is the purpose of a leaning post?
The main purpose is stability and comfort while standing at the helm, particularly in rough conditions. It also raises the operator's vantage point for better visibility and can provide storage for gear underneath the seat.
What types of leaning posts are available?
Styles range from simple padded benches to fully loaded configurations with folding armrests, rod holders, rocket launchers, built-in coolers, cup holders, and storage compartments. Most share a common frame-forward design with a front support panel and footrest tubing.
What is the best material for a leaning post frame?
Aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum is the standard for good reason — strong, light, and corrosion resistant out of the box. Anodized or powder-coated finishes add another layer of protection in saltwater environments. Fiberglass frames exist but are less common.
Can a leaning post be used as a seat?
Yes. Most leaning posts are designed for both — leaning while standing and sitting during downtime or while fishing. The padded bench and sturdy frame handle both uses without issue.
How do you install a leaning post?
Installation involves bolting the post to the boat deck and aligning it for stability. Stryker's models are universal fit and designed as a straightforward DIY install — no special tools required.
How do I maintain a leaning post?
Wash regularly with mild soap and water to clear salt and debris. Use non-abrasive cleaners on anodized or powder-coated finishes — abrasive pads or harsh chemicals will damage the surface. Check mounting hardware periodically to make sure everything stays tight.
Are leaning posts available in different sizes?
Yes. Sizing varies by manufacturer and model to fit different boat layouts. Stryker's LP100 and LP200 are both universal fit, designed to work across a wide range of center console boats without custom modifications.
